Why choose an endodontist? And other FAQs, answered by your Conyers, GA specialist

Why choose an endodontist? - Conyers, GA

“Endodontist” is a funny word. But it perfectly describes what we at Conyers Endodontic Center do; “endo” and “dont” are Greek for “inside” and “tooth.” So, endodontists like Drs Desir, St. Paul, and De Veaux quite literally specialize in those treatments to resolve damage to the insides of the teeth. Below, we answer your Frequently Asked Questions about why you choose an endodontist in Conyers, GA.

How are you different from a general dentist?

We are dentists first. We attained advanced training and experience to become endodontists later. We are one of 12 dental specialties recognized by the National Commission on Recognition of Dental Specialties and Certifying Boards. After dental school, we completed additional, focused training in endodontic procedures.

What treatments do you offer?

Most people have at least heard of root canal therapy. Contrary to its reputation, this is a straightforward, nonsurgical endodontic procedure. We also have training and experience with advanced surgical techniques, including apicoectomy (root-end resection). Should a treated tooth present new challenges, such as cracks, we also provide exceptional retreatment options.

Why would I need endodontic treatment?

We are proud to call many dentists in the area our partners. They often refer patients to us. Generally, a tooth that requires endodontic treatment has sustained a severe injury to its center (pulp). We can remove the damaged tissue and preserve and restore the natural tooth. Dentists appreciate that we are adept at successfully resolving many complex cases, such as patients with unique anatomical challenges.

Why should I choose a specialist?

We have the advanced experience and technology to support exceptional outcomes, immediate treatment, and a pleasant, comfortable process. For instance, on average, we perform around 25 root canal procedures each week. Within that same timeframe, dentists may perform one or two such treatments. We have also invested in sophisticated microscopy, imaging, ultrasonic instrumentation, and fiber-optics to complement our extensive knowledge and skills.
